About Me

Since August 2023, I am working as a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Statistics in the Department of Mathematics and Statistical Science at the University of Idaho (U of I), the Idaho’s only Carnegie R1 university. In August 2021, I earned my PhD degree in mathematics with a concentration in statistics in the School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences at Clemson University. After that, I held a postdoctoral position at Boston University before joining U of I.

Missing data imputation
Generalized distributions

My current primary research interests include theory/method/model development for the above topics, with applications in various fields including biology, medicine, epidemiology, climate, environmental preservation, etc.
I have been dedicated to pursuing independent theoretical and methodological research, while also fostering and seeking long-term collaborative relationships with researchers who share common interests and passions.

Openings at the Yang Lab

Postdoctoral Fellow: We prefer highly motivated candidates with a PhD degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related quantatitative field. Strong theoretical training in statistics/mathematics and computing skills (especially Python) are extremely desired. Ideal candidates should have experiences in one or more of the following areas: (1) statistical theory and methods development, (2) high-dimensional data analysis, (3) deep learning.
Research Assistant: Positions are available for highly motivated students with relevant skills (specific requirements vary by projects). Availability is limited and offered on a case-by-case basis. Note, for information on teaching assistantship opportunities, please contact the Math & Stat main office at mathstat@uidaho.edu.
Thesis Student: Current or incoming graduate students who share a common research interest are welcome to reach out for thesis advising or committee member opportunities.
Student Worker: Hourly positions are available for students with specific skills based on project needs. Openings are offered on a case-by-case basis for a specified work period.
Research Summer Intern: Multiple projects on various topics are available for summer internships. Top-performing candidates will receive payment.
